This weekend was the return of the Ride with Rendal 'cross race. Last year was the Anvil, 2010 would be a two day event; the Hammer/Anvil. The Hammer would go on Saturday, and was nearly identical to last years Anvil course, fast, grassy, but dry this year! Last weekend the family packed it up and headed for Toronto for the National Championships. Day two in Quebec City was to be the final race of the year on the Quebec Calendar. I had only done one other series race (Laval) so for me, this would be a day to show off the "Bleu et Blanc". Its been a very nice spring so far, weather has been great, and now the racing season is back underway.Two weekends ago, we headed out for the Clarence Rockland Classic, a great new event in the Ottawa area. Surprising weather over the weekend got me out for a ride Sunday, instead of a ski. It was extremely nice! rode for about an hour and a half, on the "new" fixie, its a nice old norco steel frame, ride is currently set up with a set of cross tubulars, for nasty weather and even more cush on the road. A bit lower gearing than the former fixed, but the 39-16 is a nice spinning gear for the spring,

Well it seems that another flawless transition occured this week. This past spring it was straight to the bike, and this week the trend reversed straight back on the skiis. Twice out so far, conditions are nice thanks to a good dump mid last week, and flurries the past few days. No complaints, the new Fischers are sweet. I guess however I'm not going to get in a good month of couch time as hoped.

Yes its true, they can be repaired, and it's probably costing me more in man hours than a new tub would... After an experiment in tube replacement that wasn't super effective, its back to the drawing board, and onwards to attempt number two. A nice weekend for racing! Woke up to a light frost Sunday morning packed the car and headed for Almonte, ON for round four of the Eastern Ontario Cyclocross series. After nationals last weekend, a light frost was a welcome. Made it out with lots of time to spare, and watch the first race of the day. The new ride for 2009 has been completed! This year I'm looking forward to sporting a nice new Kuota KOM. A bit of a break in tradition for me in some ways, and some familiarity at the same time. The final race of the Eastern Series would once again this year be at Mooney's bay in Ottawa. I'm still on injury reserve, so I'd sit this one out and take pics with the Nikon. So how odd has the past few days been? Well if 25 (celcius) and higher in November is any indication, its been nice. Departure from Ottawa Tuesday was as usual, later than hoping, but we arrived late, or early Wed. morning in Columbia Maryland. Sunday would mark the first cross race of the year, and a return to Rochester NY, for the Cobb's Hill Cross Race. Last year, we took a chance and attended the first running of this race.
